busy, busy, busy

Oh dear, I’ve let the blog lapse already. Been really busy and it’s been raining, raining, raining.

Well cleaning has come to a standstill as last time they came they got their truck stuck on the track, so we have to wait until it dries out until work starts again. Track is now in a terrible state since we’ve had diggers and trucks up and down it in the wet weather, it’s now deeply rutted and the torrential rain has created ravines that it’s not really worth sorting out until all the work’s finished.

Started the olive harvest with our neighbour, we do the two quintas together and share the oil. Looks like a bumper crop this year so we’ll be looking to sell some - hand picked, organic, cold-pressed, and absolutely scrummy - you’ve never tasted anything so good!

Also been busy re-writing the Pure Portugal website to make it cleaner and easier to navigate. We’ve had so many new listings lately the old design was getting a bit cumbersome. Hoping to have it completed and uploaded by the end of the month, in time for 2005 holiday bookings.

Winter seems to be such a busy time. Constant problems needing to be fixed. We sealed all the draughts in our main room which has solved one problem but created another - now we have terrible condensation, especially since we’ve been drying clothes inside because of the rain. Went today to buy some roof insulation as a temporary quick fix. The worst condensation is, of course, in the worst place - dripping down onto the computer.

We’ve also had lots of enquiries from wwoofers - hardy people wanting to come and camp here in the winter! Nice sounding guy from London is arriving in a couple of weeks, we can certainly use the help. But it means extra stuff to do, moving and sorting out the yurt - putting new tarps on, buying a flue for the burner and fitting it before he arrives. At the moment the well cleaners are storing their tools in it, so we’ll have to find somewhere for those to go too.

Had a Portuguese lesson today and I was SO braindead. Duh.

Right, I could waffle on for ages talking about everything we’ve been doing, but I’m knackered and off to bed. Night.

Stumble it!
