progressing well

Well people didn’t show yesterday, but they were back today with the local tractor man who managed, after some pretty impressive wheel-spinning, to pull out their stuck truck. They’ve now pumped out the well for about the third time since they started work (it keeps filling up again, hey, that’s what it’s supposed to do!), and they’ve built a rickety-looking wooden platform above the huge new well with a winch to lower down a man with a bucket to clean out the water mine (tunnel at the bottom of the well which leads to a spring). So the well is finally progressing. Also had a delivery of bricks today so hopefully they’ll be back tomorrow to start lining the hole. Hoorah!

Today I’ve been continuing my ‘war on couch grass’, dug a patch about 2m square and got 3 huge buckets of grass & roots out of it. Slow progress. I also dug a new bed where I’d had a bonfire the other day, I’ll plant broad beans here as they like the wood ash.
Also went over, this afternoon, to a friend’s to take photos of his holiday apartments for the Pure Portugal website. Now I have to add them to his webpage: Quinta Vale do Pero Cosme. He tried to give us his cat, a lovely tortoise-shell, very pretty and very friendly, but unfortunately female and not spayed. Although I was tempted, there’s no way I’m having a female cat when we already have two males!

Stumble it!
