There are (as every summer) numerous forest fires burning throughout the country. If you live here, or are thinking of moving here, there’s a great CD full of information on how to reduce the risk of your property being affected by fire - including information on plant species that are naturally more resistant to fire. This one was raging earlier today, about 1km from our house. Luckily the bombeiros arrived quickly and put it out within about 3hrs.
