finally made it into the garden!

been so busy with pure portugal work lately i haven’t had much time for anything else. managed to get into the garden for a few hours this morning and andy helped me make a raised bed for the asparagus which is now in its third year so we can start harvesting around may when it starts producing spears! all very exciting. we got the boys to help bring down a load of bricks left over from building the house to make the surround for the bed (which already had the asparagus - and lots of weeds - in it). while they were hefting bricks down the track i weeded the beds and made a flat foundation for the bricks. when the bricks were in place we filled up the bed with compost and horse manure. it all looks very neat now, especially as i also cleared the paths in between the beds. now i just have to get on with making the rest of the garden look as good!

i have managed to clear and plant some beds already this year - with some help from a ‘borrowed’ wwoofer who was staying with friends who came over for the day to have a go at vine pruning - so i already have garlic, onions, beetroot and lettuce growing.

only been riding twice in the past couple of weeks, partly because it’s been raining, but i really need to find more time for that.

Stumble it!
