Self Seeded & Wild Foods

My garden seems to be getting very productive without much input from me!
We have loads of self seeded turnips and lettuces, where i left old plants to flower and seed last summer/autumn. These are the biggest turnips, the leaves are great for salads, but it wont get to grow a root because it is growing on the path!

There are also loads of self-seeded nasturtiums & coriander. The young nasturtium leaves add a spiciness to salads (as do the flowers later in the year). People either love or hate coriander - and I have to be careful to ask visitors, especially as quite a few people are allergic to it.

Amongst the ‘weeds’ we have a fair bit of rocket and sorrel. Sorrel is very citric/lemony in taste, caused by the oxalic acid it contains, like rhubarb. Be careful not to eat too much of it, too much oxalic acid is not good for you. Rocket has a very distinctive taste too. The young leaves are best, this one is probably to old.
