Reg has been here for the last two weeks, putting shelves up in our adega. Yesterday Sophie was painting them with a linseed oil, turpentine and essential oil mix, to discourage insects.

“Embora” está bem. Com “Apesar de” podia ser “Apesar de estarmos ainda …”.
Na segunda parte da frase ficava melhor “o que fizemos tem …” e “cómoda” em vez de “cômoda”. Para ficar mais próximo do inglês podia ser “… janelas, agora temos uma linda cómoda para os nossos livros de culinária, ….”

I’ve used the word “estante” instead of “cómoda” as this last one normaly has drawers and a “estante” is mainly shelves.

Portuguese verbs are the worst… even for Portuguese people. Many don’t use them well.
