Dear Future Wwoofers

The time I had here was amazing it was so much fun. I wish we could stay for longer! The first thing I remember doing was picking grapes and treading on them to make grape juice. I had a quick ride on a horse call Isla and a longer ride on a horse called Maurice and got to help to shower them and put on their fly masks. Andy’s food was great although the average time of eating it was 9:30pm!! He comes out with the most amazing sayings and be careful to give him the right fork at dinner, He’ll tell you which one!!! Sophie was funny and always a lot of fun. She’s a very horsey person, she sometimes even laughs like one. The yurt was lovely and colourful. It made me feel right at home. Although we were paying guests it was always fun to work on the Quinta. I’ve really enjoyed my time at the Quinta and I’m sure you will too! Have fun!

Sue has a go on Maurice

Sue, my step-mum, has been keen to have a go on one of the horses for some time.
So, a few days ago, we were about to go out on the horses, and my parents were here. It was a perfect time for her to experience sitting on a horse.

Maurice is pretty tall, so Sophie ‘parked’ him next to a low bank, so that Sue wouldn’t have so far to climb.

Nicely done. A quick wave before going for a little stroll.

And then a short stroll for Maurice, and Sue is very happy with her horse riding experience.

My Old Man, Always at the Back.

We’ve lent one of our horses, Ayla, to a friend, and rode over there with her. Its just the other side of the village, and she has a horse too, who is Ayla’s best friend. They have been known to escape to go visit each other!
Here we are just starting out on the trek:

And here’s a shot showing my horse’s head. This is roughly where we spend most rides, especially going downhill. My poor old man goes very slowly and carefully downhill, and then we get to trot to catch up on the way back uphill:

And here they are having a break, while we had lunch. Then we set off home again, leaving Ayla at her friend’s for a few weeks.

Geocaching

We’ve just discovered geocaching, since some guests introduced us to it (inadvertently, by leaving some printouts in the yurt when they left!).  We thought it looked interesting so looked it up on the internet and found the geocaching website and were pleased and excited to discover there are a number of caches in our area, some of them even close enough for us to ride to on horseback! So, we’re going to give it a go …
